Boston T Parity

Boston T Parity will be held on January 13th at the Stata center in Cambridge, MA, building 32-141. Qualifying will be done through this site. If you're unfamiliar with how this all works, go to the QUALIFYING section here.

Important: this event uses a nontraditional qualifying method, the "clipped seven game average." In essence, there is no fixed time limit (but please do it all in on session/stream), but you play exactly seven games. Your highest and lowest scores will be removed, and the remaining 5 will be averaged for your overall qualifying score.

Like in recent qualifiers, all games are 39 HALT, meaning you should stop once you hit level 39. Both the original rom and Tetris Gym are acceptable (in particular, you do not need to use the custom Boston T Parity hack, nor should you).

Make sure to record each score, as you will be asked to submit all seven games.

The remaining rules are taken from the CTM qualifier page:

  1. Click 'Start Qualifier' when you're really really ready to qualify.
  2. You'll be taken to a screen that gives you an AUTH WORD. This will be used to timestamp your qualifying session.
  3. You'll also see the form to submit your scores and your VOD link.

Tournament Format

The bracket will be twelve-person single elimination. Round zero will be best of 3, while the rest of the tournament will be best of 5.

The matches will be played on a custom romhack. They will use a unique "counterpick" system where, before each game, one player picks the interval (what level start/what level the linecap activates), while the other picks the type of linecap.

The possible intervals are levels 18-29, 18-34, 18-39, and 19-39 (faster masters). The possible linecaps are FLOOR (solid garbage rises, one row every level), DKS (double killscreen), INVZ (invisible pieces), and NORO (no-rotation). Players are not allowed to pick the same row or column twice in a match. In the case of a game 5, the objective is to get a maxout (999,999 points) as early as possible.

For example, in the first game, player 1 might pick the interval 18-29 and player 2 might pick INVZ. Then, they will play level 18 start games, and at level 29, the pieces turn invisible. Afterwards, player 1 picks the linecap instead while player 2 picks the interval, and they continue in this manner until a winner is determined.

Qualifying for this event is closed.
