Tournament Format and Rules

QUALIFYING DEADLINE: January 1st at 1200UTC (noon). (For US Americans who need help, this is 7am in New York, 6am in Austin, 5am in Denver, 4am in Los Angeles). The qualifying deadline will display in the Events tab in the CTM discord.

WITHDRAWAL DEADLINE: You may withdraw your qualifier without penalty before January 2nd at 1200UTC.

STRUCTURE: STM Masters is a 16-player flat bracket. There will be no other tiers below Masters for this event. If there is significant interest and enough top quality scores, a decision to expand the tournament to 24 or 32 players is possible, at the sole discretion of the tournament organizer.

SEEDING: Players are seeded in order of their qualifying averages. If two players average is a tie, the tiebreaker is earliest date of qualifer submission.

FORMAT: All tournament matches are best-of-five, with the highest lines at topout winning each game.

GAME MODE: The format of this tournament is NO ROTATION. (Stealing this word-for-word from triskai) "Noro games can't have any significant rotation inputs — pieces that don't end up in spawn orientation, end up somewhere inaccessible without rotations, rotations that make for an easier sequence of inputs (things like finesse and polevaults), help analyze an invisible stack, and similar things, or rotations that give any kind of advantage over not rotating, aren't allowed. Insignificant rotations, like accidental button presses that are fixed right away or rotating squares, are allowed but not recommended. Lines cleared (and points scored) after an illegal rotation or placement don't count, but the game can still be included as if the illegal rotation/placement was a topout."

PLAYSTYLE: Any playstyle is allowed.

LEVEL: Qualifers may start on any level. Tenatively, tournament matches are planned to start at Level 0 (subject to change).

SCHEDULING: Masters is scheduled in groups of 2 or 3 matches by a scheduler according to player and streamer availability.

PIECES: SAME PIECE SETS WILL NOT BE USED. Slow early level speeds allow delay tactics for a screenlooking advantage to unnecessarily lengthen matches.

PLAYER IDENTITY: Players must stream with both face and hands visible on camera. By participating in a tournament, players agree to be streamed on our various livestreaming platforms and to allow CTM to use the recorded footage in our public archives and other video content. Players must conform to the Terms and Conditions of the various platforms involved with the tournament (e.g. Twitch, Discord).

GAME INTEGRITY: Upon topping out, players should remain on the top out screen. Players should not excessively "rage quit" back to the level select screen.

You must be logged in to qualify.
