Tournament Format and Rules
STRUCTURE: STM Masters is a 32-player flat bracket. STM Futures is a 32-player standard bracket. STM Community tournaments are 16-player standard brackets.
SEEDING: Players are seeded in order of their qualifying averages.
FORMAT: All tournament matches are best-of-seven, with the highest topout score winning each game. The finals will be best-of-nine.
GAME MODE: The format of this tournament is NO NEXT BOX. Players must use the Select button to hide the piece in the next box, and all qualifying games must be played in this mode. It is recommended to hide the next piece in a throwaway game before you start your qualifier timer. Any individual game where the next box is flashed, especially multiple times or if determined to be at an advantageous game moment, may be subject to removal from the qualifier, but might not necessarily be removed if it appears accidental, is hidden very quickly, and the player's qualifier has exhibited good faith overall (similar to pause rules), subject to the discretion of the tournament organizer.
PLAYSTYLE: Any playstyle is allowed. Players may not "smurf" by qualifying with a less advanced playstyle (DAS->Hypertap->Rolling) than they play in the tournament.
KILLSCREEN: It would be insane if this were necessary.
LEVEL: [subject to revision] Masters Level 12 starts during match play. Lower tiers: TBD. Qualifiers may start on any level.
SCHEDULING: Masters is scheduled in groups of 2 or 3 matches by a scheduler according to player and streamer availability. Futures and Community matches are scheduled individually among players, and will be streamed by a community restreamer.
PIECES: SAME PIECE SETS WILL NOT BE USED.
PLAYER IDENTITY: Masters: Players must stream with both face and hands visible on camera. By participating in a tournament, players agree to be streamed on our various livestreaming platforms and to allow CTM to use the recorded footage in our public archives and other video content. Players must conform to the Terms and Conditions of the various platforms involved with the tournament (e.g. Twitch, Discord).
GAME INTEGRITY: Upon topping out, players should remain on the top out screen, and may be asked keep their hands in view and toggle the next box to demonstrate fair play. Players should not excessively "rage quit" back to the level select screen.
